Senatla and fellow Blitzbok star Kwagga Smith were chosen for the World Rugby Sevens dream team of the season for the second successive time on Monday.
Senatla was the leading try-scorer for the second campaign in a row as well, with 66 five-pointers, way more than the 47 from the 2014/15 season.
And such was Smith’s contribution to the Springbok Sevens team that he still made the side despite missing most of the last two tournaments in Paris and London due to injury.
Fijian captain Osea Kolinisau, who helped his country successfully defend their World Series title, was a third player who kept his place in the dream team for the second year in a row.
Spring-heeled American Perry Baker, who scored four tries in a 42-14 victory over New Zealand in the London Cup quarter-finals, secured his place in the series team as well as he ended in second place behind Senatla on the try-scorers’ list with 48.
Fiji’s Jasa Veremalua, Samoan stalwart Faalemiga Selesele and France powerhouse Virimi Vakatawa round up the seven-strong side of superstars.
But exactly who will emerge with the gold medal at the Rio Olympics remains to the seen, with Scotland causing a major upset by defeating South Africa 27-26 in the Twickenham final on Sunday.
While Fiji were the most consistent team during the season, there were three surprise title champions in recent months with Kenya, Samoa and Scotland, so anything can happen during the one-off competition in Brazil in August.
World Sevens Series Dream Team:
Kwagga Smith (South Africa), Seabelo Senatla (South Africa), Jasa Veremalua (Fiji), Osea Kolinisau (Fiji), Faalemiga Selesele (Samoa), Perry Baker (USA), Virimi Vakatawa (France).
