The Urban Warriors dominated proceedings, but were undone by their inability to turn possession into goals.
Tashreeq Morris spent last week training with Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam and, last night, he used the motivation and confidence gained on the trip by giving the Capetonians the lead in the 15th minute.
But, in truth, Ajax could have scored four or five goals in the opening 30 minutes. They created numerous opportunities, but, again, as has been the case for most of the season, they were let down by poor finishing, with some of the scoring chances from right in front of goal.
As usual, though, Ajax couldn’t make their dominance count in the way of goals – and it was no surprise when they got caught on the break. Ndiviwe Mdabuka foolishly gave the ball away and Platinum striker Ndumiso Mabena raced through to equalise by chipping over goalkeeper Anssi Jaakkola.
Ajax had two late chances to win but both attempts were brilliantly saved by Platinum keeper, Kagiso Mlambo. - Cape Times
